THIBAULT PONTALLIER – Château Margaux – Hong-Kong

Being the son of the late Paul Pontallier, General Manager & Winemaker of Château Margaux between 1983 and 2016, Thibault Pontallier has always been immersed in the wine world. His family has been making wine for more than 400 years.

In 2009, he graduated from the top European Business School HEC Paris with a double Master’s Degree in Management.  Before moving to Asia in 2010 for Château Margaux, Thibault lived and worked in France, Vietnam, Norway, Italy, Spain and New York to gain a deeper understanding of the luxury market and the wine industry.  He also trained with a world-renowned wine publication and at a retailer of fine wines. He also worked for the United Nations in 2008. In 2010, Château Margaux set up its first representative office in Hong Kong and appointed Thibault as its Ambassador in Asia. It was the first time in Château Margaux history that a representative was sent abroad.

In 2017, Thibault moved to London and became Château Margaux Global Ambassador, ensuring that Château Margaux continues to develop and enhance its position and its unique image in the world.

Thibault is also an entrepreneur. He created the premium “Pont des Arts” wine brand with Arthur de Villepin, and he is also a partner of Clarette, a modern and vibrant wine bar in London, together with the founders Alexandra Petit and Natsuko Perromat du Marais.
